A nail salon described as 'Birmingham's best' by reviewers is set to close. Nails Bab on Hall Street in the Jewellery Quarter announced it would close on December 30 in a message to its 230,000-strong community on Instagram. The salon was opened four years ago by Rosie Lynall , whose quirky designs caught the attention of art lovers during lockdown.
Work created in the salon was shared in publications like Vogue, Cosmopolitan and Elle and reviewers called it 'Birmingham's best' in write-ups online. Earlier this year, singer Jorja Smith called on the Jewellery Quarter salon for a manicure when filming her latest music video. Rosie has reassured followers that she will be working from home part time and taking on new clients.
She said that the closure will allow her to 'focus on other projects'. In a post to customers, Rosie said: "This certainly has not been a straightforward decision, but I have decided to close the salon after the end of December (December 30 will be the final working day).
"The last four years have been a wild ride, have changed my life and expanding Nails Bab is without a doubt, the most challenging and best thing I've ever done. Opening during the pandemic was a huge risk but has certainly paid off. "There's been big big lols, tears, parties, many yapping sessions, lots of dogs, floods, couple o' Karen's, a break in, smashed up disco balls, thousands of hands painted with incredible art and SO.
MUCH. DUST. "It's been so much fun and ultimately, this space has allowed us to hold hands with the most amazing people, brought incredible opportunities and has taught me so much.
Obviously I have mixed emotions about saying goodbye to our Jewellery Quarter space, JQ is a very special place for me and the salon is my baby, an extension of myself and a product of the last 14 years of work. "However, I just know that closing the salon feels like the best thing for me personally, the perfect time and a necessary step for my next move. Change is scary but I'm so excited for the future and to focus on other projects.

In the meantime, I'll still be working from home part time in the Jewellery Quarter & available to book online! (I have space for a few new clients also) So please don't panic if you are a client and would like to continue to get bab'd every month. The other girls will be moving on too and I'll be sharing where you can find them. "Lastly, I would like to thank every single client, staff member and friend for your support.
Without you, the salon wouldn't have been what it is and I couldn't be more grateful for the last four years. Thank you for the mems! "This isn't the end of Nails Bab, just a change of direction for now and as I always say, it's not just Nails, bab!" Customers flooded the comments section with messages of support for the salon. Among them Rose Gallagher who wrote: "Thank you for years of happy memories in the salon girls, a sad day in one way but at the same time I'm so excited for your new adventures Rose! Here's to 2025 being your best yet!" BeastieBoo said: "Thank you for always being my safe space!" Joshhwarrrrr added: "I'm so proud of you.
You've been such a shining light in Birmingham and such a creative soul. I'm so blessed to know you. I can't believe what you're about to get up to, a complete change, but very you to keep people on their toes.
