Birmingham HelloFresh protest as 79 staff axed amid toilet breaks claim

A protest is being held by the Community Union over HelloFresh's decision to sack 79 workers at its Nuneaton warehouse

Workers and supporters are due to protest in Birmingham after nearly 80 HelloFresh staff were axed amid claims employees were denied toilet breaks. The Community Union, which represents staff in a range of sectors, alleged 79 workers from the St George's Way distribution centre in Nuneaton were let go after voicing grievances about working conditions, a claim HelloFresh denied. The union and workers have scheduled a protest for tomorrow morning, Friday, October 18, at Regents Park Banqueting Hall in Small Heath .

HelloFresh said previously that staff were dismissed after to a probe into allegations several refused to work during their shift earlier this year. The company said it had tried to contact the Community Union over the dispute and rally. "We are aware of the gathering and have made repeated attempts to speak with Community this week to consider how we can work together constructively, explain how we support our employees, and discuss their concerns.
