Billionaire Anil Agarwal on buying his first '330 sqft' home in Mumbai: 'Felt like my biggest achievement'

Vedanta chairperson Anil Agarwal recently shared how he bought his first home in Mumbai and how it felt like his biggest achievement even though it was a tiny one at 330 sqft. Taking to X, the billionaire said that at the time he had only Rs 75,000 which was not enough to buy a house. Moreover, he wanted the property to be in one of Mumbai's most expensive areas, Malabar Hill.

"When I first came to Bombay, I was living near Cotton Exchange near Kalbadevi. My first business partner had a small office there, and that’s where it all began. Life was simple, but my dreams were not.



After a lot of hard work and jugaad , I finally dared to think about buying my own flat. Sapne bade the, lekin bank mein sirf Rs 75,000 the ( Dreams were big but I had only Rs 75,000 in my account," Agarwal said. He added that his friends and well-wishers had advised him to take up a place in the suburbs because it was cheaper and more practical.

"But I had a different dream," the Vedanta boss said. "I wanted to live where the top people lived. Malabar Hill , near Peddar Road, that’s where I saw myself, because I believed that one day, I would also make it big.

" He finally bought "a small 330 sq ft flat" and said that "it felt like my biggest achievement". "That house wasn’t just bricks and walls, it was my belief that I was moving in the right direction," Agarwal said . "Looking back, I’ve learned one thing; life is all about dreaming big and believing in yourself.

Start small, work hard, and never let anyone tell you what you can or cannot achieve.".
