Billie made this revelation in a new interview with in which she answered questions posed by other celebs. The questions ranged from Chappell Roan asking why Billie stopped wearing long nails (answer: to play instruments), to Stella McCartney asking if she and can read each other's minds (answer: yes, especially when they're writing music together). “‘I thought Billie was a boy's name.’ That's all I ever heard every day of my life,” she explained. “I remember just being so mad, and all I wanted was to have a girly name, like Violet or like Lavender, some sort of, you know, pretty flowery name.
” No shade to those names, but it's hard to imagine Violet Eilish having the same impact. She continued, “It's so funny because now there's no other name in the universe that could be my name besides Billie. I love my name so so so much.
It really is the only possible choice for who I am.” Elsewhere in the interview, Billie also revealed her favorite hair color after being prompted by red carpet king Colman Domingo. “I really like to romanticize two specific periods in my life: and the ,” she said, explaining that the green roots and black hair look she rocked in 2020 was especially meaningful.
“I felt so exactly who I was at that time. I'd never really seen anything like that before and it felt really nice to have something that felt like mine.” Some people were just meant to stand out—whether by hair color or name—and Billie Eilish is definitely one of them.
