“It's hard to see you, but I wish you were right here. Oh, it's hard to leave you when I get you everywhere”: the lyrics to “Love Me Not” were telling enough, as the Cavinder Twins danced in coordinating tiny black bathing suits in a recent TikTok video. But the clue that said it all occurred when one of the identical twins, Haley or Hanna, 24, mouthed the words “If you love someone and you break up, where does the love go?” And the other answered, “To his next girlfriend!” It’s a famous quote from Sex and the City , with Carrie asking the question and Samantha — known for moving from one guy to the next — answering that men just move on.
“Samantha the Queen never lied,” commented a fan. Hanna is newly single, having just endured a messy breakup with University of Miami quarterback Carson Beck. The sisters were also Hurricane athletes, having played their fifth year of basketball in a season that ended early March, failing to quality for the NCAA March Madness tournament.
(Their fifth season was to make up for the derailed one during the Covid-19 pandemic. They took a year off between graduation and their fifth season as graduate students.) Their fans were immediately aware of the video’s message and left encouraging comments.
“Sometimes breaking up is the bravest way to love someone even when it hurts,” wrote one fan. “Hanna hasn’t missed in months,” wrote another. Haley has been dating Dallas Cowboys tight end since fall 2023.
