The Government Railway Police (GRP) investigation busted a fake recruitment racket in the Sonpur Railway Division of Bihar. The investigation, initiated after five suspects were detained, exposed the fraudulent practices used to recruit fake railway employees, including interviews, training and medical checkups at Patna's Railway Super Specialty Hospital. The GRP Sonpur, in collaboration with the Crime Branch of the CBI on Friday, detained Sanjay Kumar Mishra, a railway employee working as a cook at the Additional Divisional Railway Manager's (ADRM) residence in Sonpur.
Mishra, originally posted as a gateman, is suspected of being a key player in the racket. According to Sonpur GRP Station Head Dharmendra Kumar, Mishra’s interrogation is expected to yield crucial insights into the operation. The racket charged candidates Rs 5 lakh each after fake recruitment procedures, including issuing fraudulent identity cards.
These individuals were then assigned to various railway stations across India. The police have also filed a court application to take the five suspects, currently in judicial custody, on remand for further questioning.
