Bihar bypolls: Deepa Kumari daughter-in-law of Jitan Ram Manjhi wins Imamganj seat

NEW DELHI: Deepa Kumari of the Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular), an NDA alliance partner, secured victory in the Imamganj assembly seat during the Bihar bypolls . She defeated Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) candidate Raushan Kumar by 5,945 votes, the Election Commission of India (ECI) announced on Saturday. Kumari, the daughter-in-law of Union minister Jitan Ram Manjhi , garnered 53,435 votes compared to Raushan Kumar’s 47,490, according to the ECI.

Bypolls were also conducted in three other constituencies—Tarari, Belaganj, and Ramgarh—where NDA alliance candidates are leading comfortably. Counting began at 8 am under tight security across all four assembly constituencies, which had been left vacant after their MLAs were elected to the Lok Sabha earlier this year.



The results mark a significant win for the NDA, further strengthening its position in the state.
