Big demand for housing assistance

THE Housing Assistance and Relief Trust (HART) continues to get a lot of requests from low-income earners for housing.HART CEO Poserio Furivai said they were only able to assist 50-100 new families in a year.“We could only take the people who were really in need.

We are getting lots of requests,” he said.“Even in nursing homes, people are coming to the office to ask, ‘can we bring our elderly here?’“We say, no, we are not a retirement home.“This nursing home is only for the most vulnerable people who are abandoned.



We do not accept requests from families to bring their elderly here.“But, as I said in nursing homes and HART homes, there is a huge demand for assistance in terms of housing.“We receive an average of about 500 requests in a year.
