A 25-year-old man was killed after being hit by a driver in Phoenix on New Year's Day night, police said. He was reportedly riding his bike mid-block on Baseline Road near 53rd Avenue when he was hit. 1. The crash happened around 8:30 p.m.
near 53rd Avenue and Baseline Road , the police department said. "When officers arrived, they located the adult male pedestrian, identified as 25-year-old Ajuamungu Chubaka. Chubaka was transported to a nearby hospital where he did not survive his injuries and was pronounced deceased," said Phoenix Police Sgt.
Rob Scherer. Investigators believe Chubaka was crossing Baseline Road mid-block when he was hit. The driver stayed at the scene and impairment isn't believed to be a factor in the crash.
The investigation into Chubaka's death is ongoing. The Phoenix Police Department.
