Kate Long, from Whitchurch, is a Sunday Times bestselling novelist who has written for TV and for a range of national newspapers and magazines, including the and . She will be running the short courses in Oswestry and Shrewsbury through to help those taking part to develop their writer's voice. In the four-week course, will guide students through character generation and development, and different methods of planning and structuring a story.
And in the six-week course, Kate will look at beginnings and endings, effective dialogue, setting and description, and finally, how students might publish work. There will be plenty of opportunity for students to share and to ask questions and experiment with their writing. All levels are welcome, including beginners.
The Shrewsbury course starts on Thursday, May 1, 7pm-8.30pm, and will run for four weeks at the Gateway Education and Arts Centre, SY1 1NB. It costs £49 (concessions available).
A companion six-week Shrewsbury Gateway course starts on Thursday, June 5, 7pm-8.30pm, and costs £76. Again, concessions are available: check with the college.
