The festive season is upon us, and it's the perfect time to spend an evening or two curled up on the sofa watching a classic Christmas film. And while you're relaxing, the whole experience is just made so much better if you've got a delicious warm cup of hot chocolate to drink. It's so easy to just whip out a jar of the instant stuff and mix it with milk or water if you want a quick fix.

However, if you are craving something a little more creamy, thick and indulgent, then one recipe is said to be the 'best ever' - and it doesn't take that much longer. The creation was shared by Tineke Younger on TikTok , a chef who has gone viral this year thanks to her indulgent yet easy to follow recipes. She has racked up an impressive 10.

3 million followers, with recipes such as her macaroni cheese and chicken tenders boasting millions of views on the video-sharing app. Recently she's taken to sharing festive recipes in the run-up to the big day, with her hot chocolate concoction being dubbed 'amazing' by fans. The chef claimed it only takes a few minutes of extra prep time compared to making it instant, but with the addition of double cream, it tastes so much thicker - and looks like the hot chocolate you'd see in films like The Polar Express.

Tineke also made a peppermint whipped cream to garnish the drink, but if you've not got time, you can just use a canned version. Here's everything you need to make this indulgent treat. Hot chocolate with peppermint cream Ingredients Half a bar of dark chocolate - at least 70% cacao One and a half cups of whole milk Half a cup of double cream Three tbsp cocoa powder Three tbsp sugar Dash of vanilla extract For the peppermint cream Cup of double cream Icing sugar Dash of vanilla extract Dash of peppermint extract Method First, finely chop up your dark chocolate into small pieces and set aside.

Pour the milk and cream into a jug, stirring well to combine. Add the contents of the jug to a small pot and turn the heat on low to heat up the milk a little - you don't want to be boiling it. Once the milk has warmed up, add three tablespoons of cocoa powder and sugar, and whisk it together so there are no lumps.

Slowly add the chocolate while you're whisking, making sure that it's melted before you add any more. Add the vanilla and continue to leave on the heat for another two minutes to thicken up. To make the peppermint cream, place the double cream in a bowl and start to whisk it until soft peaks appear.

Then, sieve in some icing sugar - Tineke didn't use a measurement so just use as much or as little as you'd prefer - making sure that there are no lumps when it goes into the cream. Whisk until you can't see any icing sugar in the cream. Add your vanilla and peppermint, then continue to whisk until it's thick and resembles whipped cream.

Serve the hot chocolate with a generous dollop of the cream on top, and enjoy..
