When the jar of pasta sauce reads “Proudly made on the Hill in St. Louis, Missouri,” you know you are in for a treat. Charlie Gitto’s has recently come out with a line of pasta sauces, a salad dressing and wine so you can bring the flavors of this Hill staple home.
We loved this rich, slightly sweet pomodoro sauce, tasting of ripe plum tomatoes, onion and spices such as basil and garlic. The San Marzano sauce is similar, but the tomatoes are grown in the volcanic soil near Mount Vesuvius in Italy. Size: 24 ounces Price: $9.
