Best beach trails you can enjoy this spring along the Lancashire coast

From Silverdale to Arnside, here are five of the best beach trails you can enjoy in Lancashire, according to AllTrails.

To help you pick your next coastal adventure, AllTrails has rounded up a list of the best beach trails in Lancashire and we have shared the top five. 3km long and takes an average of two hours and 35 minutes to complete. You’ll start this “moderately challenging” walk from Arnside train station and go through the town before getting onto the coastal path. The route will take you past Brentwood and Grubbins Wood Nature Reserve.

You can expect “stunning views across Morecambe Bay, the Kent estuary and the fells of the Lake District beyond.” You can see the full route via the AllTrails website. Silverdale Shore and Eaves Wood Coming in at second is the Silverdale Shore and Eaves Wood trail which is a 9.

7km circular walk near Silverdale. It’s a “moderately challenging route” and takes two hours and 25 minutes to complete, on average. AllTrails added: “Enjoy a peaceful walk with beautiful scenery.

Please take note of tidal times to ensure safety and access.” This route starts and ends at Silverdale Beach car park (parking fees apply) and you can find out more about it via the AllTrails website.

Silverdale and Arnside Circular If you’re looking for an even longer walk, this one could be for you – it’s 16.6km long and takes four hours and 20 minutes to do, on average. AllTrails said: “This trail includes paths through wooded nature reserves, along the shore with it's craggy limestone cliffs and outcropping, and the commanding heights of Arnside Knott at 522ft.

” It advises wearing appropriate footwear and explains that some paths on this route can get muddy after rainfall. This walk ranks in third place and you can see the full route at the AllTrails website. Knott End Circular If you have a couple of hours to spare, this circular walk could be the one for you.

On average, it takes around one hour and 55 minutes to complete and it’s “moderately challenging”. AllTrails said: “This is an easy circular walk in Lancashire along quiet country roads, lanes, farm tracks, a golf course and the sea wall. The walk takes in a former railway line (closed 1963), farmland under which 'Brine' was extracted and a saltmarch area of SSSI status. “At low tide, there are extensive views across the sands and Morecambe Bay.” If you take your dog along for this walk, which is ranked in 4th place, make sure they wear a lead when going through fields as there is some livestock that you might encounter.

This 5.5km trail , which ranks in 5th place, is near Morecambe and it takes an hour and 19 minutes to do this “easy” walk on average. AllTrails said: “Here is a coastal walk that takes you along the water beside Heysham.

There are good views along the way and the path underfoot is sturdy including compact dirt and pavement. “There are some small hills as you follow the coastal land formations. You can stop at the Half Moon Bay Cafe on the return or way out for a coffee.

“Overall this is a great walk for the whole family, perfect for bringing the dog or doing as a run.”.
