The town’s charter review committee is holding its second and final information-sharing session for the public on November 13, 2024, in the multi-use room on the third floor of the Bennington Firehouse. The event will begin at 6pm and child care is available from the Berkshire YMCA at the Bennington Sports Center Child care details are: Attendees will hear from committee members about their work and will be given the opportunity to ask questions. The areas being reviewed by the committee include vacant/ blighted properties, town governance, municipal voting eligibility, the autonomy of the Community Policing Advisory Review Board (CPARB), as well as topics received through public comments at .

“As we prepare to finalize our recommendations, we want to share with the public some of the critical factors that we’ve considered. Changes to the Town Charter will also be considered by voters at the next Town Meeting,” said committee chair Jacklyn Matts. “We’re grateful for the amount of input we have received from the community.



It’s been a regular focus of our discussions and has deeply informed our work. We strongly encourage community members to share their comments via the town’s online portal soon, before we complete our process.” The committee plans to submit their final recommendations to the Select Board at the end of the month.
