Bengaluru: After witnessing a great impact from the torrential rains, Bengaluru now braces for very heavy rain as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for October 17, today. The heavy spell of rain left city paralysed after severe waterlogging disrupted traffic on key routes, including the submersion of Manyata Tech Park. Bengaluru Weekly Weather Forecast From October 17 to October 22, Bengaluru is expected to experience mostly cloudy skies with varying levels of rainfall.
On October 17, heavy rain is predicted with temperatures ranging from 21 degrees Celsius to 25 degrees Celsius. The following days, October 18 and 19, will see light rain with temperatures slightly rising to a maximum of 28 degrees Celsius. On October 20, generally cloudy skies will continue with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.
The rainy conditions will persist on October 21 and 22, with similar temperatures between 21 degrees Celsius and 28 degrees Celsius throughout the week. Bengaluru Floods: Over 60 Lakes Overflow After Heavy Rains Heavy rains in Bengaluru on Tuesday caused more than 60 waterbodies to overflow, flooding several low-lying areas. Regions like Halasuru, Horamavu, and Nagawara were severely affected by the rising waters, as per a DH report.
Most of the overflowing lakes are located in Mahadevapura and Yelahanka. Bengaluru has around 183 lakes within its BBMP limits, and some of the ones that overflowed include Gottigere, Subramanyapura, Madiwala, Yelahanka, and Halasuru. This led to severe waterlogging in several parts of the city.
In Murphy Town, streets were flooded with up to four feet of water due to the overflow from Ulsoor Lake's connected rajakaluve. Local residents expressed frustration. Hariprasad, a resident of Murphy Town, shared how the flooding has made it difficult for them to return home safely after rains.
RB Kumar, another resident, blamed the BBMP for incomplete drainage work, which he said is worsening the flooding problem in the area. Get Latest News Live on Times Now along with Breaking News and Top Headlines from Bengaluru and around the world..
