The death toll from the Bengaluru building collapse has risen to five, with five injured and thirteen rescued. Rescue operations are ongoing, and CCTV footage revealed the collapse of a 7-floor building that was only approved for four floors. Bengaluru: The death toll from the devastating building collapse in Bengaluru yesterday has tragically risen to five, as rescue operations continue to clear the rubble.
Authorities confirmed that five individuals sustained injuries, while thirteen have been successfully rescued since the incident occurred on Tuesday afternoon. Meanwhile, CCTV footage captured the dramatic collapse of the 7-floor building which had permission for the construction of only 4 floors. The collapse took place in the Horamavu Agara area of eastern Bengaluru, where approximately 20 people were believed to be inside the building at the time of the disaster.
Rescue teams resumed their operations early Wednesday morning, despite heavy rain in the city. A dog squad was deployed to assist in the search efforts, as reported by news agency ANI. Strict action against those responsible: DK Shivakurmar Among the survivors, a man named Ayaaz was rescued after spending nearly 16 hours trapped beneath the debris.
Meanwhile, Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar visited the disaster site on Tuesday night, where he revealed that 21 individuals had been trapped in the building, which was under construction.
He confirmed that the structure was illegally erected on land designated as 60/40 and pledged strict action against those responsible for the unsafe construction. Heavy rains in Bengaluru Bengaluru has faced ongoing heavy rainfall, resulting in severe waterlogging, numerous potholes, and traffic disruptions throughout the city, especially in the northern areas. According to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, Yelahanka recorded 157 mm (approximately six inches) of rain in just six hours, from midnight to 6 AM on Tuesday.
