Filmmaker Arindam Sil Suspended From DAEI Amid Sexual Assault Allegations As per the letter that DAEI sent out on Saturday, the suspension was put into effect right away. The letter read, “Due to certain allegations made against you, and prima facie evidence we have with us, which are of deep concern and is maligning to the entire organisation, DAEI has decided to suspend you from membership for indefinite period or till the allegations against you are cleared.



” The letter was sent by DAEI president Subrata Sen and Secretary Sudeshna Roy. Sil, a well-known actor, clarified to the media that what seemed like improper conduct was unintentional. He explained that the incident occurred accidentally during a discussion with a female co-star about a scene they were filming.

Sil pointed out that during that time, nobody called him out on his conduct or measures. The whole scenario started to unravel when the actress filed a complaint with the West Bengal Women’s Commission and caught the attention of the DAEI. Consequently, the DAEI asked Sil for his side of the story, which led him to pen an apology letter.

Sil insisted that anyone engaged with the film’s production and who was present at the scene would vouch that his actions were unintentional. On the topic of his suspension, he alluded to it being enforced without any further discourse. Roy informed the media portal that after a careful review and detailed discussions with everyone involved, the DAEI has reached a practical conclusion.
