Benedict Cumberbatch Movie The Thing With Feathers Sets Release Date

The movie is based on Max Porter’s 2015 novella Grief Is the Thing With Feathers.“Dylan Southern has crafted something truly unique — an emotional gut punch wrapped in a dark, fantastical nightmare,” Briarcliff Entertainment CEO, Tom Ortenberg said in a statement. “With its bold visual storytelling and powerhouse performances, The Thing With Feathers is an unforgettable exploration of grief, madness, and transformation.



We’re thrilled to bring this vision to audiences.”When is The Thing With Feathers release date?The Thing With Feathers is scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 31, 2025. This comes after the movie had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year.

The cast also includes Richard Boxall, Henry Boxall, Eric Lampaert, Vinette Robinson, Sam Spruell, and Claire Cartwright, with David Thewlis lending his voice to the character of Crow. “The drama revolves around a widower (Cumberbatch) who is left to raise two young sons after the unexpected death of his wife. The man’s life is unraveling because of the grief that takes the form of an unhinged and unwanted houseguest – a crow – that taunts him from the shadows,” reads the synopsis.

The film is written and directed by Dylan Southern, which serves as his first time helming a narrative feature. Prior to the adaptation, Southern was best known for directing music videos and music documentaries. It is produced by Andrea Cornwell for Lobo Films, and Leah Clarke and Adam Ackland for SunnyMarch Productions, along with Film I Vast and Filmgate Films.
