An inmate has been branded “pure evil” after he killed a beloved detention officer while serving time in a Texas jail. Arron Semeion Thompson, 45, allegedly left Isaiah Patrick Bias, 28, in a “large pool of blood” after he launched his terrifying attack on Monday afternoon at the county jail in Waxahachie, south of Dallas . The inmate was said to have choked and hit Bias in the head, according to an affidavit obtained by KDFW .

And following the fatal beating, the court documents said he then walked over to a nearby table and sat down . Thompson took his chance to attack Bias as he was returning from his one hour a day break from solitary confinement, Sheriff Brad Norman said . He had been brought to the jail last month on charges of assaulting a public servant, public intoxication and evading arrest.

Indiana boy, 8, died after zip tie wrapped around neck in locked room as man 'sidetracked' playing Xbox Florida stepmom slept as boy, 5, 'put outside naked as punishment' drowned in 7-foot feces-filled hole Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Sheriff Norman said he wanted to see Thompson receive the death penalty if he was found guilty of killing Bias. He said: "Most of the time, law enforcement officers and detention officers deal with good folks having a bad day. Occasionally, we deal with bad folks.

I can honestly say that my staff over the last day has dealt with pure evil. "It was a heinous, horrific, purposeful murder that was senseless and not needed. The ultimate decision will be made by the district attorney's office, whether or not they seek the death penalty in this case.

If I have anything to say about it, that's exactly what will happen, but the ultimate decision lies on the DA’s office." Norman revealed how a team from sheriff’s office had rushed to the county jail at around 3.45pm on Monday following reports that a member of staff was being assaulted by an inmate, according to USA Today .

The attack unfolded as Bias was putting Thompson back in his cell. The injured detention officer was then brought to a hospital where he was tragically pronounced dead. Norman said Bias had been in his post for over six years.

He said he had first met him as a teenager when he had attended the jail's explorer program. Speaking about the family oriented young professional, he said: “Everybody here that worked with him in the jail loved him..

. He was one of the kind of guys who if you needed help, he’d come help you.” Thompson has since been charged with capital murder in connection with Bias’ death.

His bond was set at $2 million. Jail records did not list an attorney for him. Norman said the Texas Rangers will investigate.

The Ellis County Sheriff's Office said they had set up a memorial to honor Bias’s memory. One former inmate of the jail who knew him shared a touching tribute to Bias on Facebook, saying he “treated us like humans”. They wrote: “This really saddens me.

He was one of the good ones. We would joke around with him a lot he used to turn red and get embarrassed and he took his job serious but not to a point were [sic] he was rude or ugly in any kind of way. “If anything he treated us like humans.

Just a really sweet guy and those are rare in places like that so everybody liked him it breaks my heart that someone would do that to him. Why him? Why do that to one of the very few that was so kind hearted. I'll never understand my heart, thoughts and prayers go out to his family.
