A lunchtime supervisor in Bolton has hung up her apron after 54 years. Brenda Hewlett, who is in her 80s became a 'beloved figure' at St Thomas of Canterbury RC Primary School during her long tenure, helping generations of families in the local community . Mrs Hewlett first joined the school in its early years and has been part of its community ever since.
Beyond her role supervising children at lunchtime, she ensured 'every meal was accompanied by a smile and an encouraging word'. From the youngest to the oldest pupils, Mrs Hewlett was a steady presence, known for her 'warmth and kindness' in the dining hall. Her work spanned more than half the school's existence, marking her as a 'vital' part of its 100-year history .
