Belarusian jailed for life for killing Kazakh national at Rooppur A Belarus national has been sentenced to life imprisonment for murder of a Kazakhastan national at Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant project at Ishwardi in Pabna. At the same time, he was fined Tk 25,000. In default, he would have to suffer from three months imprisonment.

Besides, two other Belarus nationals were acquitted by court as the charges of their involvement in the murder could not be proved. Pabna's Senior District and Sessions Judge court's judge Mohammad Waliul Islam delivered the verdict on Wednesday (June 26) afternoon. The convict was Roopupur Nuclear Power Plant project's Rossem official Mataviev Vladimir.



Two other Belarus nationals -- Urbanavichus Vitali, 44, and Fedarovich Genedi -- have been acquitted. The accused were present at the court during the pronouncement of the verdict. The case statement said on March 26, 2022, Kazakhastan nationals Shvets Vladimir's blood-stained body and his injured brother Amere were found at an apartment at Natunhat Green City Residential Area.

Then a murder case was filed with Ishwardi Police Station accusing three Belarus nationals for their alleged involvement in the murder. Fedorov Yuri, director of the contracting firm, filed the case. After investigation, police submitted chargesheet against three Belarus nationals to the court on May 27, 2022.
