Baylor gets back in the swing of Big 12 play as it welcomes new conference foe Arizona Thursday night followed by a matchup against Houston on early Sunday afternoon. The Bears (5-3-1) are looking to wash away the dissatisfaction of giving up a draw late in the match to Texas State on Sunday night, after a weather delay that was over two hours long. The Wildcats (5-2-1) come to Waco after falling to Utah in the Big 12 opener last week.

Arizona and Baylor are 1-1 in the series, with the Wildcats picking up the win the last meeting 3-1. Houston will host Arizona State on Thursday following a 5-0 loss to UCF to start conference play and comes into the week with a 3-3-1 record. Baylor head coach Michelle Lenard confirmed the return of junior goalkeeper Azul Alvarez for the match on Thursday as the TCU transfer suffered a minor head injury in the match against Oklahoma State last week and was kept out against the Bobcats as a precaution.

Alvarez has posted three shutouts and six complete games in goal and her three blank slates through the first five games are the first by a single Baylor goalkeeper since Jennifer Wandt had four through five games to start the shortened 2020 season. She also made a career-high eight saves in the Bears loss against Iowa. Her former Horned Frogs teammate Tyler Isgrig leads the Bears offensively with nine points off three goals and two assists.

Right behind her are Ashley Merrill, Hallie Augustyn and Callie Conrad with two goals each while Hannah Augustyn and Kai Hayes have each recorded one, with Hayes netting her first score for the green and gold on Sunday against Texas State. The Bears and the Wildcats kick off at 7 p.m.

Thursday from Betty Lou Mays while the Cougars face off against Baylor at 1 p.m. Sunday.
