Be space ready, minister T R B Rajaa urges students at TechnoVIT festival

Chennai: "Be space ready," said minister for industries, investment promotions and commerce T R B Rajaa to college students at Vellore Institute of Technology Chennai's ninth annual TechnoVIT festival. Besides plans for building space research park in Tamil Nadu , the minister, who has recently returned from a trip to US with chief minister M K Stalin, promised students a surge in job opportunities across the state. "We've secured deals with around 18 companies, including Tata Motors and Ford, worth 7,000 crore, " he said.

Emphasising India's potential to move beyond its service-oriented economy, he challenged students to create the next Google. "Whether it's drone mapping or robotics, the state govt's StartupTN initiative will help you. We want to hear your ideas and scale them through seed funding," he said.



Tamil Nadu has become a land of opportunities,said Swarna Bharat Trust trustee Immani Deepa Venkat. "While technology is at the core of your ideas, make sure they benefit society," Venkat said. On Saturday, students were operating drones and showcasing dancing robots.

While aspiring investigators were solving criminal cases using code, some developed solutions for real-world challenges with code. After three days of workshops, presentations, and technological demonstrations, TechnoVIT wrapped up on Saturday. More than 20,000 students from 421 colleges participated in more than 200 competitions.

Around 56 students from Malaysia, Laos, Bangkok, Cambodia, and Japan visited the campus and participated in the festival. Workshops covered topics such as sustainable AI solutions, large language models, and space programme materials. VIT Chennai vice-president Sekar Viswanathan said, "We aim to foster collaboration and learning, providing students the opportunity to interact with industry experts and push the boundaries of artificial intelligence and technology.
