Published: March 30, 2025 9:10 AM IST By Edited by The BCCI has postponed its meeting, originally planned for March 29th in Guwahati. This meeting was to address Indian men’s cricket team contracts and the upcoming tour of England.

A rescheduled date has not yet been announced. Reports indicate that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently held a meeting with head coach Gautam Gambhir and chief selector Ajit Agarkar to discuss player contracts and the future captaincy of the Test team following Rohit Sharma. India’s Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah, and Ravindra Jadeja are likely to keep their top-tier A-plus central contracts.

Rohit’s future in Test cricket, however, remains uncertain. Kohli’s performance will be closely watched after a strong start to the Australian tour followed by subsequent low scores. Shreyas Iyer, the top run-scorer for India’s victorious 2025 ICC Champions Trophy campaign, is expected to be reinstated to a central contract.

His previous omission from the retainer list stemmed from missing a domestic game. Ishan Kishan, another Mumbai-based player, also experienced a similar exclusion. Varun Chakravarthy will receive his first BCCI central contract.

His strong performance in the recent T20I series against England, including a late addition to the Champions Trophy 2025 squad and a successful ODI debut, led to this recognition. His impressive bowling in Dubai further solidified his position. India’s five-match Test series against England, commencing June 20th, marks their inaugural series in the 2025-27 World Test Championship cycle, following closely on the heels of the Indian Premier League.

Reports indicate that Gautam Gambhir will accompany the India A team on their two-match tour. This tour, featuring senior players like Karun Nair, aims to help them acclimatize to English playing conditions. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently revealed its central contracts for women cricketers.

Harmanpreet Kaur, Smriti Mandhana, and Deepti Sharma were placed in the highest, A category. For breaking news and live news updates, like us on or follow us on and . Read more on Latest on .
