Vadodara: To provide incentives to cricketers playing the longer version of the game, the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) had decided it will pay its players match fees for Ranji Trophy fixtures in addition to what is paid by the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI). BCA will also pay a pension to retired players who have played even a single Ranji Trophy match for it. The BCCI currently pays a pension of Rs 30,000 a month to retired players who have played 25 or more Ranji Trophy matches.

At the apex committee meeting of the BCA on Saturday, it was resolved to pay pensions to retired players who played fewer than 25 matches for the association. BCA president Pranav Amin proposed a pension of Rs 15,000 for all retired players who played fewer than 25 matches. This will be applicable from Jan 1.

The association also resolved to pay a match fee of Rs 10,000 per day for Ranji Trophy matches. Reserve players will be paid Rs 5,000 per day. This will be over the match fees paid by the BCCI, which presently pays Rs 40,000 per day or more for Ranji Trophy matches depending on the experience of players.

BCCI pays reserves Rs 20,000 or more based on their experience..
