30, 2024. A man has been charged in a fatal 2023 stabbing that took place in Vancouver’s Downtown Eastside. On Sept.
28, 2023, Ricky Martinez, 44, was stabbed near Carrall and East Hastings Street. He did not survive. This week, Vancouver police announced charges had been approved in the murder following a nearly year-long investigation.
Hevert Solis Moreno, 39, has been charged with one count of second-degree murder. Moreno was arrested Wednesday and remains in police custody while awaiting a court appearance. A West Shore RCMP drug trafficking investigation has resulted in the seizure of drugs, weapons, and cash from a Langford home.
According to police, a search warrant was executed on Oct. 11 in Langford, as part of an investigation into drug trafficking. The raid resulted in the seizure of a massive quantity of drugs, including 583 grams of suspected cocaine, 95 grams of suspected fentanyl, 111 grams of suspected methamphetamine, 29 grams of suspected ketamine, 13 grams of suspected MDMA, 2 grams of suspected benzodiazepines, 150 pills of suspected hydromorphone, and 50 pills of suspected methadone.
Police also found drug trafficking and packaging materials such as buffering agents, scales, and small bags. Just over $1,500 in cash, two Tasers, and a pair of nun-chucks were also seized. The investigation continues.
