The Traitors season two star Paul Gorton's 'villain origin story' was previously uncovered by fans as he quickly became the show's villain. The BBC show saw his devious streak come to an explosive end in episode eight. The 36 year old, who boldly described himself as "competitive, cruel and traitor" to host Claudia Winkleman , lived up to his words throughout the show.
His downfall came after he implicated Harry Clarke, prompting an unexpected betrayal from his co-conspirator, resulting in his ousting. However, fans have unearthed a potential reason for Paul's cunning nature - a past heartbreak over a missed £250,000 prize. It has been revealed that Paul previously appeared on Deal or No Deal in 2010, where he left with a mere 10p after a tense game.
This revelation, which resurfaced on X, formerly known as Twitter, has led viewers to connect the dots. One person commented: "It all makes sense when you see Paul's villain origin story.", reports the Mirror .
Another added: "Paul from #TheTraitors was on Deal or No Deal and won 10p. No wonder he's evil." Noel Edmonds, now 75, was at the helm of Channel 4's Deal or No Deal from its inception in 2005 until its conclusion in 2016.
A clip from one memorable episode shows Noel assisting contestant Paul during the tense final moments of the game. With only the 1p and £10 boxes remaining, Paul opted to swap his box. In the footage, Noel is heard saying: "I didn't influence you choosing that box in the beginning and now here I am involved in whether or not you are going away.
.. oh for goodness sake.
" As he unveils the contents of the swapped box, Noel reveals: "Let's have a look, this is what you've now got. 10p! Says it right to the end, isn't it? " Paul's reaction is one of sheer disappointment as he throws his arms up. The camera captures Paul's then-girlfriend Charlotte, overcome with emotion, tears streaming down her face.
Despite the outcome, Paul reflects positively on his experience: "I've just really enjoyed my time, actually. Just meeting all these people, I've made some friends for life. And yeah, I've got a lot of good memories that I can take back with me, so it's not all sadness.
I'm really happy." Interestingly, Paul isn't the only participant from this year's The Traitors to have graced the Deal or No Deal stage. An eagle-eyed viewer noted: "Kyra was also on this seasons Deal or No Deal.
" Indeed, Kyra, a Faithful in the series, featured on ITV's rendition of the show in November last year, a mere six weeks before her appearance on The Traitors. The Traitors airs Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays at 8pm on BBC One and iPlayer..
