BBC fans were left in shock when JB Gill was placed in the bottom two last weekend on Strictly Come Dancing despite receiving a good score of 30 and winning over Craig Revel-Horwood. The 37-year-old JLS singer fought for his place on the show alongside professional Amy Dowden. JB was up against former footballer and Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson .
Both couples gave it their all and JB was saved, with Paul, 56 gracefully bowing out of the popular reality dance show with Karen Hauer. The judges, including the likes of Anton Du Beke, shared that he was stunned to see JB in the dance off. However, eagle-eyed viewers were quick to spot a worrying curse that may have affected both JB and last week's dance off survivor, Shayne Ward .
Shayne, 40, ended up in the exact same situation last week against DIY SOS star Nick Knowles. Nick, 62, who suffered a shoulder injury was partnered with Luba Mushtuk, left the competition and Shayne and Nancy were saved. Fans have theorised that those who take to the ballroom first may be more likely to end up in the dance off, thus risking their fate on the show.
Viewers leapt to X , formerly known as Twitter and said: “Crazy how JB danced first last night and in the dance off, and Shayne Ward danced first last week and also found himself there. Going first is a curse lol.” “Ooh thats a bit of a shock, but I think sometimes opening the show can put you in a risky position.
Easy to forget the first couple especially if they fall in the middle of the leaderboard,” added a second. A third shared: “Going first is a proper curse in this series." A fourth chimed in: “Voters with goldfish memories yet again.
Two weeks in a row. The curse of first.” Meanwhile, comedian Chris McCausland sweetly planted a kiss on his partner's hand after another triumphant week reducing the likes of Shirley Ballas to tears.
Chris, 47, was spotted at Elstree studios gearing up for the live shows when the duo shared a sweet moment backstage . In recent weeks Chris and Dianne Buswell have taken the competition by storm leaving judges wowed with their performances..
