BBC Breakfast's Naga Munchetty replaced by co-star as fans fear 'has she left?'

BBC Breakfast regular Naga Munchetty was not on the red sofa on Thursday morning, with Nina Warhurst stepping in.

BBC Breakfast' s usual presenter Naga Munchetty is missing from her Thursday slot, with her co-star stepping in to take her place. The BBC Radio 5 live star, 50, hosts the BBC programme alongside co-host Charlie Stayt from Thursday to Saturday. However, Naga has been replaced by Nina Warhurst .

The 44-year-old TV host stepped up to present the day's top stories alongside regular host Charlie, 62, from the iconic red sofa. The reason for Naga's absence has not yet been disclosed, and she has remained silent on social media. This is not the first time Naga has been absent from her usual slot, and neither Nina nor Charlie addressed the change at the start of the show.

It's like an awkward first date that your friends have set up.", reports Bristol Live . This comes after Nina received a wave of support when she announced some exciting career news.

The journalist shared that she will be "hanging up the high-viz and hairnet" on BBC Breakfast as she moves to BBC News at One. The beloved presenter took to Instagram to announce her departure from her current position, but assured fans she won't be leaving the screen entirely. "I'll be hanging up the high-viz and hairnet for a wee while as I join the BBC 's News at One," she announced, alongside a fresh studio snap and a nostalgic picture harking back to her early days on BBC Breakfast.

"The second photo was almost exactly seven (! ) years ago," the doting mother reminisced. "I was heavily pregnant, very nervous, and unbelievably excited to be offered a few shifts on the national broadcast treasure that is @bbcbreakfast ..

. @stephlunch took time to show me the ropes and help me feel at home." Looking back on her career progression, she reflected, "The job was made permanent as we came out of a lockdown and began looking around and wondering how we might pick up the pieces to heal and live again.

It's been a privilege to help support our audiences through this tumultuous time. I am always amazed by those who invite us in to share their stories." Expressing her deep appreciation for the career developments near her Salford base, she enthusiastically looked forward to the next chapter at BBC 's News at One.

"When I was a teenager hoping to work in journalism, never in my wildest dreams did I imagine there'd be all these opportunities half a mile from my Salford home," she gratefully acknowledged. "Our London colleagues built a gem of a lunchtime programme and I can't wait to work with our amazing team as we take it forward." In her farewell message, she comforted fans by saying: "Ps - I'll still be popping up on the red sofa - if only to continue torturing Roger with my stories of air frying and washing lines.
