Bayswater fire: Semi-trailer carrying ‘unknown contents’ goes up in flames on Tonkin Highway

A major road is closed and a HAZMAT warning has been issued after a truck went up in flames in Perth’s east. A semi-trailer caught alight on the Collier Road exit off Tonkin Highway in Bayswater just after 2pm on Wednesday. DFES issued a HAZMAT warning at 3.

09pm, saying the truck was carrying “unknown contents” and could cause dangerous smoke in the area. They urged people in the area to remain inside and switch off air conditioners. Collier Road westbound has been closed as firefighters continue to fight the blaze.



Main Roads WA and police are also at the scene. Motorists have been asked to avoid the area and drive carefully. The cause of the blaze has not yet been determined.
