A Battle Ground man was sentenced Wednesday to 20 years in federal prison for sexually exploiting three children on social media. Jakob Joshua Stickney, 26, pleaded guilty in January in U.S.
District Court in Portland to sexually exploiting children and coercing and enticing a minor. The judge on Wednesday also ordered Stickney to pay $3,000 in restitution to each of his victims and be placed on lifetime supervision, according to a U.S.
Attorney’s Office news release. Investigators say that between August and September 2023, Stickney had sexually explicit conversations with children on the online platform Discord using the names “UNHOLY,” “unholy_xx2” or “Unholy_22x.” After talking with several children in multiple states for months, Stickney arranged to meet a child he’d been talking to in Oregon.
When Stickney arrived at the child’s house, he was confronted by the child’s mother, who reported the incident to law enforcement, according to the news release. In October 2023, officials at Discord alerted investigators to sexually explicit conversations between Stickney and another child. Stickney had persuaded the child and her sibling to perform sexual acts and record sexually explicit videos in order to be allowed to join a Discord group Stickney maintained called “Unholy girls,” the news release states.
Police arrested Stickney in November 2023 and seized his phone, which had child sex abuse material on it, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Investigators encourage anyone who has information about the physical or online exploitation of children to call the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324) or submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov .
