During the second Test between India and New Zealand in Pune, The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced Indian squad for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Harshit Rana and Nitish Kumar Reddy have received their maiden call for the long format of the game. Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali expected Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh to be named in the squad and hence questioned the selectors for their decision with the squad, and blamed them for putting too much pressure on pacer Jasprit Bumrah.
