Baseball roundup: Minnewaska takes 2 from BOLD in West Central play

GLENWOOD — The Minnewaska baseball team secured the home sweep over BOLD on Friday at Marthaler Field.The Lakers opened the West Central Conference doubleheader with a 9-1 win. They followed that with a 4-0 shutout in the nightcap.

In Game 1, Minnewaska pitcher Marc Gruber struck out 11 and allowed no walks and two hits in a complete-game victory. He also was 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Connor Erickson finished 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.



The Lakers got another complete-game victory in Game 2. Erickson was the winning pitcher, striking out 11 and giving up two hits and one walk. Miles Wildman paced the offense, going 2-for-2 with a run, an RBI, two walks and two stolen bases.

Levi Johnson added a hit, a run, an RBI, two walks and two stolen bases.Daylen Weber and Jonah Walton had both of BOLD’s hits in Game 1, with Walton driving in a run. Jack Kaiser and Marcus Benson each had singles in Game 2.

Minnewaska plays a non-conference game against Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Willie Reigstad Park in Sunburg.

BOLD hosts Benson for a West Central game at 5 p.m. Monday at Bird Island.
