Measures are being investigated to stop caravans parking on a roadside. Brighton and Hove Council said it will put up barriers to limit the access to the roadside in Wilson Avenue as more caravans have parked up in recent days. This follows other caravans parking on the street for several weeks, leaving large amounts of rubbish.

This will be checked on in the coming days, as it may have just been parked there temporarily. “Where people are found to be living in vehicles, we try to support them into accommodation. “Unfortunately, when enforcement takes place to move the vehicles from Wilson Avenue, it is not uncommon for new vehicles to appear.

We will be putting in barriers to limit access to the area shortly. “We are keen to manage the issue of moving people living in vehicles on to other parts of the city, and are exploring what temporary measures we can bring in while we develop a permanent solution.” Brighton and Hove Council issued a notice for caravans to leave the site in March.

Last week, workers were seen beginning to clear up rubbish left in the area. Several caravans were also seen being transported off the site..
