You can almost always count on the spirits community to come together when there’s a good cause on the line, and the 501(c)(3) organization Team Chad has already raised more than $2 million over the past 16 years to support the treatment and care of cancer patients in Middle Tennessee. One of their major fundraisers is coming up tomorrow night, Saturday, Nov. 16, with the Barrels at the Bedford gala tasting event and auction starting at 6 p.
m. at 4319 Sidco Drive. Cool Springs Wine & Spirits has curated an incredible offering of fine whiskeys for the tasting, including spirits from Angel's Envy Bourbon, Cincoro, Diageo, E.
H. Taylor Single Barrel, Elmer T. Lee, Four Roses Single Barrel, Heaven Hill Bottled in Bond, Jack Daniel's Bonded Rye, Pappy Van Winkle, Thomas H.
Handy, Woodford Reserve and W.L. Full Proof.
Clearly this is an event that you'll want to arrange a rideshare for. In addition to the whiskey tasting, attendees will enjoy a dinner from Mack & Kate’s Catering , as well as both a silent and live auction featuring some incredible lots of whiskeys and experiences. Among the live auction items is a complete selection of Pappy Van Winkle products, which Cool Springs Wine & Spirits has squirreled away for this special occasion.
Even if you can’t participate in person, you are welcome to check out the silent auction online , and hope that your fingers are fast enough to outbid attendees. Patrons tickets are still available online for $250, so clear your calendar and head on down to The Bedford . If, like me, you're a fan of the PBS weekend show Cook’s Country , you'll be interested in a special book signing event coming up on Wednesday, Nov.
20, from 5:30 until 8 p.m. at local PBS affiliate WNPT’s home at 161 Rains Ave.
near the fairgrounds. Two of the show’s stars, Toni Tipton-Martin and Morgan Bolling, will be on hand to promote, sell and sign their latest cookbook When Southern Women Cook . They’ll be joined in conversation by two Nashville culinary and literary icons, Erin Byers Murray and Lisa Donovan.
Together they'll discuss the crucial role women play in preserving and advancing community through food and family. Murray is the editor of Local Palate , a preeminent magazine of Southern food and culture, and Donovan is a New York Times food columnist, a James Beard award-winning writer and an internationally renowned pastry chef who has redefined what it means to be a “Southern baker.” Copies of When Southern Women Cook will be available for purchase from Parnassus Books during the event.
The evening will also include hors d'oeuvres inspired by the recipes in the book, along with refreshing spirits. Tickets are still available at the event website ..
