The antiques expert has become a firm favourite on the BBC show Bargain Hunt has returned to BBC One, featuring antiques expert Tim Weeks, who landed the role after being spotted co-presenting the BBC's Street Auction. Following a successful screen test, he joined the show and hasn't looked back since. He described his job as "a dream come true", adding: "Sometimes, I look at the contestants standing next to me in the blue or red fleeces, and I just want to run around kissing everyone and shouting, I'm on Bargain Hunt!".
As an auctioneer, Tim loves every aspect of his job, from valuation and research to cataloguing and auctioneering. He feels fortunate to work with great people who balance hard work with fun. Outside of work, Tim prioritises family time with his wife and their two children.
When asked about his free time, he joked: "Having fun and lots of madness with my wife Alexa and two children Albie and Bella. They all boss me around! " However, it's clear he adores his family and has even given up collecting antiques to focus on their needs. When asked about his collecting habits, Tim explained: "I try not to anymore!" He used to collect various items, including football programmes, toys, vinyl, and ceramics, but now prefers to spend his money on his children instead.
Despite his busy schedule, he makes sure to indulge in his personal joys, which he lists as: "Coffee, chocolate and singing in my car." The individual has a passion for browsing outdoor antique markets, elaborating that the best finds are often outdoors: "I always prefer an outside fair, as I like being able to rummage through the larger stalls where it feels like even the stall holder isn't completely sure what they have." He admitted to lofty expectations when visiting these fairs: "Every time I turn up at a fair I expect to find 'that' item which will make my team rich.
.. but I'm still waiting!".
Addressing some less fortunate ventures, he spoke about a significant loss he took when he purchased celebrity signatures, lamenting a costly mistake: "It still hurts," as he spared a chuckle over splashing out £220 on autographs found to be worth only a tenner. Bargain Hunt airs on BBC One on weekdays at 12.15pm.
