Barbara J. Miller OBITUARY Barbara Jane Miller, aged 93, peacefully passed away on April 11, 2025, at Brookdale Senior Living in South Windsor. She was born in New Britain, CT.

on July 20, 1931, to Loretta (Stabert) and Andrew Schaefer. When Barbara was 3 years old her mother Loretta passed away. Barbara was lovingly raised in her mom’s family home by several aunts and uncles.



She met her future husband, the love of her life, Raymond L. Miller, while still in high school, and they were married in 1949. Barbara and Ray lived In Brooklyn, New York early in their marriage, moving back to New Britain, CT.

for several years before finally settling in South Windsor in 1956. She was employed at First National Supermarkets in accounting for several years until she left there to work at The Hartford Insurance Group as an account executive until she retired. Barbara and Ray loved to travel.

Included among the places they visited were trips to Germany, the Caribbean, South Carolina, and Cape Cod. Additionally, they also cruised to Bermuda, visited Canada and Washington D.C.

with their sons and brought their grandsons on vacation trips to Maine, Cape Cod and Sag Harbor New York. She loved the holidays, being with family, and always put out a small feast. She and Ray were charter members of Our Savior Lutheran church in South Windsor.

Barbara was predeceased by her husband Raymond Miller in 2018, her grandson Kenneth Miller in 2014 and her lifelong friend Shirley Bryant in 2023. She leaves to mourn her passing her son Raymond Miller and his wife Beverly of South Windsor, her son Jeffrey Miller of Moodus, grandson Craig Miller of South Windsor, great grandsons Jason Miller and Adam Miller of Cheshire, and her dear cousins Catherine Procko of Plainville and Beverly Wolf of Spofford New Hampshire. Friends and family may pay their respects at Our Savior Lutheran church, 239 Graham Road, South Windsor on Tuesday April 22nd, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 11:00am.

Burial will be at Wapping Cemetery, 50 Oakland Road, South Windsor. Samsel & Carmon funeral home in South Windsor is in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations can be made in Barbara’s name to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
