The due date for entries was moved due to local schools being closed because of winter weather. This year’s theme “When I Grow Up!” offers local artists the chance to express their creativity when they enter the 11 th annual competition. The final deadline to enter the light pole banner contest is now Feb.



27. This year’s light pole banner contest includes 10 areas and is made possible by generous sponsors throughout the community. “I am so excited to continue to grow this wonderful event each year,” said MACOA Executive Director Tiffany Gallaher.

“There is so much creativity and imagination in the students in our community.” Gallaher said young artists who enter the contest are encouraged to “dream big and think about their future. What do they want to be? Where do they want to go? How do they see the world around them? From aspirations and goals to hopes for the world, this theme invites students to express their unique vision through art.

” The ART Blooms contest is open to local K-12 students in public, private and homeschools in the Parkland. Students submit an original drawing, painting or illustration depicting this year’s theme “When I Grow Up!” on the official entry form found online at MineralAreaArts.org.

Students whose colorful artwork is chosen for display from this year’s contest will be turned into vibrant street banners and displayed in Arcadia Valley, Bismarck, Bonne Terre, Caledonia, Desloge, Farmington, Frankclay, Fredericktown, Park Hills, and Potosi.Visit MineralAreaArts.org to obtain an entry form and contest rules.
