Pune: Movement of heavy vehicles has been banned in the temple town of Alandi to avoid traffic congestion during the annual Kartiki Yatra from November 23 to 30. Additionally, Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj Sanjivan Samadhi Sohla will be held on November 28. "During this period, over 6 lakh devotees are expected to visit Alandi.
Following this, we decided to ban movement of heavy vehicles in Alandi," deputy commissioner of police (traffic) Bapu Bangar said. The restricted routes for heavy vehicles are from Moshi Chowk to Alandi (Bharatmata Chowk), Chakan to Alandi (Chimbali Phata), Chakan to Alandi (Alandi Phata Chowk), Chakan-Wadgaon Ghenand to Alandi, Markal to Alandi, Pune-Dighi Magazine Chowk to Alandi and Dehugaon Arch to Dehu. The alternative routes for traffic are from Moshi to Alandi via Jayganesh Samrajya Chowk, Alankapuram Chowk, Vishrantwadi/Bhosari, Bhosari Chowk, Magazine Chowk, Vishrantwadi, from Chakan to Alandi via Moshi, Chakan, Shikrapur route, from Chimbali to Alandi via Pune via Dhanori Phata, Charholi Phata.
