"Panahon na po na bigyan talaga ng tamang halaga ang mga tanod natin at mga tumutulong sa ating barangay (It is about time to value our watchmen and those helping our barangay),” Aquino said."Huwag naman nating tratuhing volunteer. Tratuhin natin talagang nagtatrabaho dito po sa ating barangay (Let us not treat them as volunteers.

Let us treat them as workers in our barangay)," he added.Aquino filed Senate Bill No. 700 or the Support for Barangay Workers Act in 2016, but the Senate did not take action on it until his term ended in 2019.

Former vice president Leni Robredo, who is running for mayor of Naga City, accompanied Aquino during his campaign in the city..
