The PSNI has issued a statement after speculation of a serious nature was circulating in regards to a "large fight" at a beach - and asked that unhelpful speculation stops. Officers say that at around 8.15pm last night, Friday April 11, they responded to reports of a fight at Ballyholme beach.
Further reports from the area had suggested that weapons had been used. On attendance to the scene, the says it dealt with a large number of young persons in the area and remained at the beach dealing with the incident for some time. "Our investigation into this incident is at an early stage however, we are aware of a number of videos circulating online showing fights between large groups of people," a PSNI statement read.
"We are asking for witnesses to this incident to come forward and work with us as we investigate and try to identify those responsible. "We are also aware that there are rumours circulating that following the incident, a male has died - this is not the case and this sort of speculation is not helpful. We are not aware of any serious injuries.

"Good is forecast again for today and whilst we want our children and young people to enjoy the warm weather and our open spaces, our message is clear - we will take robust action against those who get involved in any form of anti social behaviour. "Don't let foolish decisions ruin your future prospects.
