Bakers Delight has announced it will be giving away free hot cross buns to each store’s first 300 customers on Thursday. The national sugar hit comes as the brand declares March 13 National Hot Cross Bun Day. But customers won’t be scoring the Easter staple in its traditional form.
Instead, Bakers Delight will dish up their limited-edition Raspberry and White Choc Hot Cross Buns at no charge on a first-come, first-serve basis. Made with real raspberries, raspberry-infused cranberries and white choc chips, participation from every one of the company’s national stores will result in 150,000 individual handouts. Head Baker Luke Farrell reflected on the brand’s history with the festive favourite.
“Bakers Delight is synonymous with Easter. We’ve been making hot cross buns for more than 40 years, and our Traditional Hot Cross Buns have the same great flavour they did in the 80s,” Mr Farrell said. “We’re thrilled to be declaring Thursday, March 13th as National Hot Cross Bun Day and offer Aussies a free, freshly baked bun to mark the occasion.
” Mr Farrell outlined the scale of the operation and exactly how many bready units would be prepared. “From January through to April, we’ll produce around 18 million hot cross buns, and bake over 4.2 million buns during Easter week alone,” he added.
“If you put each hot cross bun that Bakers Delight bakes in 2025 from end to end, it would go from Sydney to LA!” Bakers Delight’s Raspberry and White Choc Hot Cross Bun will be available to purchase in store until March 19..
