Olympic bronze medalist Bajrang Punia , who recently joined the Congress party, claimed to have received a threatening message on WhatsApp, warning him of 'dire consequences.' The wrestler, who won a medal at the Tokyo Olympics, has reportedly lodged a formal complaint at the Bahalgarh police station in Sonipat, Haryana. The local police confirmed receiving Punia's complaint and have begun an investigation into the matter.

Following their entry into politics, Phogat was nominated as the Congress candidate for the Julana seat in the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, while Punia was appointed as the working chairman of the All India Kisan Congress.
