Kaizer Chiefs will stop pursuing Bafana Bafana’s Elias Mokwana. The Soweto Giants, who tried to sign him in the offseason, were interested following a breach of contract by Tunisia’s Esperance, meaning it looked like the former Sekhukhune United man was set to leave three months after joining. However, the Mokwana and Esperance saga has been resolved, closing the door for Kaizer Chiefs to do business.

Mokwana to stay in Tunisia Lawyer Kabelo Mashigo confirmed these rumours, saying, “Yes, there was a breach of contract between employer and employee, and when we raised it on Friday, Esperance told us that they had some issues which they needed to be sorted for that breach to be rectified and they have since done that and Elias [Mokwana] will now have to honour his contract with the team. “He has a three-year contract with the team, and he is going back after Bafana Bafana game to honour that contract because Esperance have now honoured their part of the contract.” After eight matches in the Tunisian Ligue Professionnelle 1, Mokwana’s side sit eighth on the table, four points behind first-placed Zarzis.

The former Kaizer Chiefs target will reintegrate himself with the squad as they hunt for silverware, meaning it’s a no-go for Nasreddine Nabi. Kaizer Chiefs have other targets Linked with several other wingers like Oswin Appollis and Asanele Velebayi, AmaKhosi management will be okay with the evolving Mokwana news and instead divert their attention towards legitimate transfer targets. One player who could be moving to the Kaizer Chiefs is PSL veteran Bongani Zungu – amid the injury of Edson Castillo, the 32-year-old free agent has piqued the interest of the Chiefs.

“It’s true there has been interest in Bongani Zungu by Kaizer Chiefs, but there be a lot that has to change at Chiefs for them to then actually sign Zungu,” SoccerLaduma reported. “They are first looking at loaning out some players in that position like Sibongiseni “Ox” Mthethwa or Samkelo Zwane and then if something happens in that respect, then the club will be able to sign Zungu. “So, at the moment, it all depends on if Kaizer Chiefs can create space that can accommodate the signing of a new midfielder like Zungu.

So, as much as they are interested in Zungu because of his experience, they are looking at how that could happen if they are to go ahead with signing Zungu.” Who do you think Kaizer Chiefs will sign this summer?
