Ludhiana: Two incidents of firing were reported from the Khanna and Samrala areas recently, including one in which a migrant worker was seriously injured. But police are yet to identify the accused in either case. Two days ago, Khanna City police booked four persons for attempting a robbery at a grocery store on Malerkotla Road, and one of them also fired a gunshot.
In a second incident on the same day, a migrant worker, Suman Mandal (35), was injured when three bike-borne miscreants fired at him to snatch a bike. He, along with two other workers, was returning from work in the Samrala area when the incident took place. Police said they released the images of the suspects, who tried to carry out the robbery at the grocery store on Malerkotla Road Thursday, and sought the help of locals to identify them.
They have also shared the images of the suspects with police control rooms and other police stations, they added. SSP Khanna Jyoti Yadav said they have constituted five teams, each comprising the CIA (crime investigating agency), Special Cell, Special Branch personnel, etc., to crack both the cases.
The accused would be identified soon, she indicated. Police sources said in the case involving the migrant worker, the three accused came on one motorcycle and left on two separate motorcycles. One of the motorcycles used by the accused to escape was a snatched one.
They said the accused came from Khamano side and returned towards the same area..
