VHP has urged all parties to support Waqf (Amendment) Bill, while reiterating its claim over the sites of Gyanvapi mosque and Mathura's Shahi Idgah as well as demand for putting an end to govt's control over Hindu temples. Meeting at Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, VHP's central advisory board said swift passage of the bill was necessary to check unlimited powers of waqf bodies. The board also reiterated its demand for liberating Hindu temples from govt control, and said an awareness campaign to achieve this goal had been launched, beginning from 'Bada Sabha' in Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh.
The meeting also debated the declining birth rate among Hindus and expressed concern over the resultant population imbalance..
