Azerbaijan's bid to join BRICS is important for country

"Azerbaijan hasofficially applied to join BRICS. This is very important for us,"said Eldar Azizov, the head of the executive power of Baku, at theplenary session "Maps of the Future. Solutions of Cities Leading inTechnological Development" during the forum "Cloud Cities.

Forum onthe Future of BRICS Cities", which is taking place in Moscow, reports. In his speech, Azizov thanked the Moscow administration fororganizing the event and the invitation. He stressed that theprocess of removing industrial facilities from the city inconnection with the COP29 being held in Baku has already beencompleted.

Azizov added that as a result of the wise policy of PresidentIlham Aliyev, Baku, like other regions of the country, hopes toachieve a high level of development. Noting that the number oftourists coming to Azerbaijan has increased by 40 percent since thebeginning of 2024, Azizov stressed that COP29 is not acoincidence. According to him, Baku is at a stage of rapid development andthe city has many plans for the future.
