Member countriesof the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) have adopted proposalput forward at the inaugural Meeting of the Ministers in Charge ofScience, Technology, Industry, and Innovation of the Organizationof Turkic States (OTS) to hold the next meeting in Azerbaijan,Trend reports viaAzerbaijani Ministry of Economy. "The meeting was attended by an Azerbaijani delegation led bythe Minister of Economy Mikayil Jabbarov.

Türkiye's Minister of industry and Technology, Mehmet FatihKacir welcomed the guests and wished them success in their workduring the meeting. He expressed hope that the discussions and bilateral meetingswill be effective and contribute to strengthening ties. The OTS Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev emphasized theimportance of cooperation rooted in the historical and culturalpartnership among the member states and expressed confidence thatthe first meeting would be significant for enhancing and activatinginteraction.



Speaking a t the event, Jabbarov expressed gratitude tobrotherly Türkiye for its sincere hospitality. He pointed out that strengthening joint activities among Turkicstates ensures prosperity, economic growth, and sustainabledevelopment for their countries. Moreover, he stressed that Azerbaijan highly values itscooperation with Turkic states and supports integration processeswithin the Turkic world.

According to him, mutual economic activity forms the basis ofTurkic cooperation. The first meeting of the ministers of industry, science,technology, and innovation taking place in Istanbul will be crucialfor developing the non-oil industry, promoting trade andinvestment, small and medium-sized enterprises, implementing moderntechnologies, and evaluating opportunities to increase initiativesin the fields of science, innovation, and digitalization, theminister said. Jabbarov highlighted that the document 'Azerbaijan 2030:National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development' defined the'Clean Environment and the Green Growth Country' direction as oneof the priorities, with significant emphasis on applyingenvironmentally friendly technologies, recycling waste, andrestoring polluted areas.

As he explained, it's planned to expand the implementation ofenvironmentally beneficial 'green' technologies. Besides, according to the minister, steps are being taken toaccelerate development, including the establishment of newindustrial zones by the government in the liberated territories andthe application of incentive packages for entrepreneurs in theseareas, as well as declaring the region a green energy zone. He also highlighted various global initiatives announced byAzerbaijan, which will host the 29th session of the Conference ofthe Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change(COP29) this November.

Jabbarov pointed out a crucial role of investments in ensuringeconomic development and macroeconomic stability for the OTSmembers. Consequently, significant steps have been taken in theinvestment sector in recent years, and the Turkic Investment Fundhas been established to facilitate the economic development ofmember states, he reminded. Besides, according to the official, Azerbaijani-Uzbek andAzerbaijani-Kyrgyz investment funds will foster the economicdevelopment of these countries and improve the people'swelfare.

The minister also emphasized the importance of establishing'green' MSME Resource Centers, conducting research and development(R&D), and presented information on institutional platformsthat will facilitate access to technologies, knowledge, andfinancial resources. The meeting featured speeches of representatives of the memberstates, and following the first meeting of the ministers ofindustry, science, technology, and innovation of the OTS, a jointdeclaration was adopted," the ministry added.
