( MENAFN - Trend News Agency) BAKU, Azerbaijan, October 26. The Garadaghsolar PV plant in Azerbaijan has produced 458.8 millionkilowatt-hours of electricity since its commissioning, Trend reports via thecountry's Ministry of Energy.

According to the ministry, the plant, which had its officialopening ceremony on October 26 last year, is considered a source ofgreen energy as it generates environmentally friendlyelectricity. The production of green energy at the facility helps prevent theemission of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, added theministry. The total capacity of the plant, built in Azerbaijan by Masdarfrom the UAE, is 230 MW.



The Garadagh solar PV plant is the largest solar power plant inthe Caspian region and the CIS. The plant was built at the expenseof foreign investment worth $262 million. It is the firstindustrial-scale solar power plant realized by attracting foreigninvestment in our country.

The plant will produce 500 million kilowatt-hours of electricityannually, saving 110 million cubic meters of natural gas. At thesame time, carbon emissions into the atmosphere will be reduced by200,000 tons. The power plant, which covers an area of 550hectares, has 570,000 solar panels installed.

A 330-kilovoltsubstation was built to connect this station to the network.
