Awards for Limerick rail workers who are held in high regard

LIMERICK rail workers won big at this year’s Iarnród Éireann Customer Experience Awards. The awards, now in their second year, recognise excellence in customer experience in all aspects of rail service. Three Limerick Iarnród Éireann employees were nominated by their peers.

This year also featured a People’s Choice Award, where nominations came from customers. Limerick onboard customer service officer Ben Downey was nominated by a colleague, who described him as a hard worker. READ MORE: Multimillion euro state-of-the-art education facility given green light for Limerick “When I started, Ben made me feel welcome immediately, introducing me to other colleagues and giving me his phone number if I needed him or had any problems,” his nominator said.



Ben is pictured above with Jim Meade, Chief Executive of Iarnród Éireann. Another finalist was John O’Keefe, also an onboard customer service officer. Speaking of John, a customer described him as a “true gentleman” and as “always being in good form.

” Additionally, Eddie Bourke, a station operative in Limerick Colbert, was a finalist in the In Station category. “It's always a pleasure to meet Eddie and he is held in high esteem by his colleagues,” a testimony about him reads..
